Position Size Calculator

Tell it your account balance, the percentage you are willing to risk, and your stop distance in pips. It returns the exact lot size that keeps your loss within your rule — the single most useful calculation in trading, and the one that lets you place stops on the chart instead of on your comfort level.

lots = (balance × risk%) ÷ (stop pips × pip value per lot)

Most beginners keep this at 1% or below.
Measure this from the chart — where the idea is wrong — not from what feels tolerable.
About $10 for most USD-quoted pairs on a standard lot.

A word on precision

These calculators use the standard textbook formulas and assume the conversion rate you supply. Your broker's figures may differ slightly because of their own conversion timing, commission structure and rounding of lot sizes. Use these numbers to size the decision; use your platform's order ticket to confirm the exact fill.
