Take profit
A resting order that locks in gains at a target price.
A take-profit order automatically closes a position once price reaches a favourable target, securing the gain without requiring you to watch the screen. Mechanically it is a limit order placed on the profitable side.
Used alongside a stop loss it defines the reward side of your reward-to-risk ratio. Setting both at the moment of entry converts an emotional decision made later into an arithmetic decision made while you are calm.
