Segregated accounts

Segregated accounts protect client funds by holding them separately from a broker's operational capital.

Segregated accounts are bank accounts where a forex broker holds client funds entirely separate from its own operating capital. This financial separation ensures that money deposited by traders is not commingled with the broker's business funds. Regulatory bodies often mandate this practice to safeguard client assets. The broker acts as a custodian, managing these funds solely for the purpose of client trading activities and withdrawals.

For a retail trader, segregated accounts provide a critical layer of protection against broker insolvency. Should a broker face financial difficulties or bankruptcy, client funds held in segregated accounts are legally protected from the broker's creditors. This significantly reduces counterparty risk, ensuring that a trader's capital remains accessible for withdrawal, even if the broker ceases operations. It offers peace of mind without adding direct trading costs.
